SLEAFORD MODS release PET SHOP BOYS- 'West End Girls' | Turn it up....
Sleaford Mods are pleased to announce the release of their cover of the Pet Shop Boys’ iconic single ‘West End Girls’, with all profits from the track going to UK’s Shelter as the band continue their longstanding collaboration with the homeless charity.
A video for the song, directed by Ewen Spencer, can be watched now while the single is available to stream. A physical release is also set to follow, as the single will be available both during the band’s current tour and in record shops from 15 December.
The Nottingham duo created a version of the 1986 classic single between tours for their latest album UK GRIM, and then sought the blessing of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe to release the track.
Not only did Sleaford Mods’ West End Girls meet with the pair’s approval, but the Pet Shops Boys were inspired to remix the cover and that version will now feature as one of the tracks on the limited edition single.
THE GOLDEN DREGS releases new EP popular music vol. 1” - Check out these covers
Today, the GOLDEN DREGS release their new 3-track EP entitled popular music vol. 1. The digital only release consists of cover versions of well-loved songs by pop icons: 'When The Party’s Over' by Billie Eilish, 'Dealer' by Lana Del Rey, and 'Billions' by Caroline Polachek.
The EP was recorded, mixed, and produced by Cornish musician Benjamin Woods and features band members Ted Mair on piano, Matt Merriman on drums, and Isabelle Armstrong, Davy Roderick, and Mike Clark on backing vocals. With their gentle harmonies and atmospheric instrumental arrangements that uniquely meld the bleak and the beautiful, combined with Woods’ rich baritone voice, the GOLDEN DREGS transform this trio of contemporary pop anthems into their own set of intimate ballads.
WATER FROM YOUR EYES release 'Crushed By Everyone' remix album | Listen to Barley remix
Out now, Crushed By Everyone is a song-by-song rework of Water From Your Eyes’ critically-adored Matador / Remote Control debut, Everyone’s Crushed.
Curated by band members Rachel Brown and Nate Amos, the album dips heavily into WFYE’s personal rolodex with contributions that map the group’s rapidly expanding community – friends, tour-mates, and peers. It’s the rare “remix” record where everybody has met in person (or at least shared some DMs).
Kassie Krut twists the title track up amid tumbling kick drums and snare pops. Nourished by Time croons atop a chopped up and scrambled ‘True Life.’ The record also finds Water From Your Eyes reinterpreting themselves, with Nate dialing Nu Metal grind and microtonal drone into an undeniably epic update on ‘Barley‘.
