London based three-piece, BAR ITALIA share new 'Jelsy' |Watch/Listen HERE
bar italia have released new single and video ‘Jelsy’, taken from their forthcoming second full length of 2023, ‘The Twits’, out November 3rd. Led by the group’s three-way vocal dynamic, ‘Jelsy’ plays out like a conversation between friends over wistful, buzzing country blues, the alternating voices at points comforting, wry and hopelessly yearning. ‘Jelsy’ follows first single ‘my little tony’ which announced ‘The Twits’ in September. The Guardian said, “A killer opening line – “Your pretentious ways make me die a little” – plus edge-of-chaos sound, like Automatic-era Jesus and Mary Chain playing in a lock-up garage. Splendid.”

For Diaz, the answer was to explore how anxiety-inducing — if not downright humiliating — falling in love can be. Weird Faith answers these questions bluntly, and Diaz says the record “chronicles a new relationship, but also a new relationship to myself.”

Polaris Prize winning album; THE CHEMISTRY OF COMMON LIFE (TRANSLUCENT ORANGE 2LP) | ORDER LINK HERE
Fucked Up’s now classic 2008 album The Chemistry Of Common Life synthesizes numerous diverse impulses into an expansive epic about the mysteries of birth, death, and the origins of life (and re-living).
Merging elements of hardcore songwriting with up to 70 tracks of guitars, organs, winds and vocals, (including 18 guitars on the first single, the fatalistic “No Epiphany”), the music remains iconoclastic and startling, with Pink Eyes’ vocals front and centre. Guest musicians, of course, abound, notably gorgeous voices such as Brooklyn’s Vivian Girls and Toronto’s Katie Stelmanis.
• Winner of the 2009 Polaris Prize • “A radical redrawing of hardcore’s boundaries.” – Uncut • “Pummeling and riveting.” – Pitchfork

SURPRISE!!! Pickle Darling & The Beths covering Postal Service - and theres a 7"!!
- pickledarling on October 11, 2023: "Well, it’s out now so finally I can talk about this! The Postal Service album is kind of the for me, it’s the album I’ve been chasing with each record I make. Sometimes I listen to it and pretend I made it. So to be part of the 20th anniversary of the album is very surreal to me.
A few weeks ago I got a message from The Beths asking me if I wanted to work on a cover of ‘Brand New Colony’ with them (there was roughly a 1 week deadline) so I cancelled all my plans that week and spent two full days in my room working on it. I felt extremely out of my depth, and kind of shocked that The Beths trusted me enough with their music. Jonathan sent me what they’d recorded so far (in hotel rooms) and an extremely encouraging message, basically saying “do whatever you want to it. Delete stuff, re-record everything, change the arrangement, make it your own, what you do, however much or little, we will be thrilled!” So I took entire drum stems and put them through a bitcrusher, recorded vocals, added banjo, kalimba, tambourine, synths, just did everything I could to bring The Beths into the Pickle Darling world. While arranging and editing their stems, I was shocked at how great their initial recordings already sounded, everything was extremely tight and perfectly played, Liz’s vocals were perfect, it was such a contrast to my own projects where everything is all cut up and full of mistakes and shit. I had to up my game a lot playing along to The Beths. So I am very proud of how it turned out, especially with the one week deadline, and so honoured to have collaborated with the best band in NZ! I hope The Postal Service like our cover! Shout out to Car Seat Headrest for their beautiful Death Cab cover on the other side!
Listen and purchase the 7” at the link in the bio or on my Bandcamp!"
