ETHAN P. FLYNN shares new single 'Distraught'
U.K. songwriter and beatmaker Ethan P. Flynn shares 'Distraught from his EP Universal Deluge. which is out today! Despite it only being his second release proper, Flynn has an impressive list of collaborations under his belt, with the likes of FKA twigs and slowthai working with the London-based songwriter. Influenced by artists like Daniel Johnston, he creates a distinct fusion of pop, electronic, and psychedelic that brings to mind artists such as Alex Cameron and Bob Dylan.

JENNY HVAL shares new song and video for 'Freedom'
With her music and writing, Norweigan singer/songwriter and author Jenny Hval brings a questioning, passionate, and frequently witty perspective to art, feminism, and sexuality. Classic Objects is her version of a pop album & her 8th solo release (2 under the alias Rockettothesky, and 6 under her own name including 2016's Blood Bitch, a concept album influenced by vampires, menstruation and 1970s horror films.) Here she gives us a taste of new single/video Freedom.
JEREMY IVEY shares video for new song 'Keep Me High'
Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Jeremy Ivey first established himself in the early 2010s as a member of the country-soul band Buffalo Clover alongside his wife and creative partner, singer/songwriter Margo Price. When Price's career took off in 2016, Ivey served as her guitarist and sideman for several years before signing a deal with Anti- and launching a solo career of his own with the albums The Dream and the Dreamer and Waiting Out the Storm. His evolution continues on the more sonically diverse Invisible Pictures which is out today!
LEYLA MCCALLA shares new version of 'You Don’t Know Me'
Born in New York City to a pair of Haitian emigrants and activists, Leyla McCalla developed an early fascination with the country and its culture thanks in part to the time she spent visiting her grandmother there as a child. After moving to Ghana for two years and later graduating from NYU, McCalla eventually drifted south to New Orleans, where she planned to make a living playing cello on the streets of the French Quarter. Rising to fame as a member of the GRAMMY Award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops before embarking on a solo career. Her 4th solo record Breaking The Thermometer is due out in May.
The xx's OLIVER SIM releases his debut solo single
Oliver Sim, who plays bass and is co-lead vocalist in The xx, has dropped his first solo single and accompanying lyric vid today for 'Romance With A Memory.' The track, produced by Jamie xx, debuts alongside a lyric video starring artists and drag performers** Charity Kase, HoSo Terra Toma, Gena Marvin** “I’ve made a compilation of some of my favourite monsters, killers and queers getting down to ‘Romance With A Memory’. I hope both the music and monsters make you feel as happy as they make me.” The song arrives on the same day the band's new Apple Radio show Interludes Radio begins, with Oliver on hosting duties first up.
OVERMONO release new single
U.K. electronic duo Overmono are known for their infectious, club-ready sound, informed by their love of hard-edged '90s rave, trance, and breakbeat. Raised in Wales, siblings Tom and Ed Russell both had successful careers in electronic music before they began collaborating as Overmono. Here they present ‘Gunk', the first track to be released from a new Overmono EP & following a very successful 2021 for the pair.
S. CAREY shares new single
S. Carey is the moniker of musician Sean Carey of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Carey is known as the drummer and supporting vocalist of Bon Iver but it's his solo work that draws comparisons to the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, José González, Steve Reich, and Talk Talk. This week he's released a stirring new song ‘Waking Up,’ offering another look into Break Me Open - his first album in four years, which is out in April.

BELLE & SEBASTIAN to release new song/video for Ukraine
Keep an eye out tonight as BELLE & SEBASTIAN will release a new song 'If They're Shooting At You' with accompanying visuals in support of all those affected by the current situation in Ukraine. Belle and Sebastian will pledge all artist income from the song, to the Red Cross. Donations made via Bandcamp until March 18th will be matched by the UK government as part of the joint appeal with the Disasters Emergency Committee. Otautahi/Christchurch-based artist Mousey today releases her anticipated sophomore record My Friends, a follow-up to 2019’s Silver Scroll nominated debut album Lemon Law. We're in the good news mood this week! Today, Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) is very pleased to announce the finalists for the Taite Music Prize 2022 and the Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award. These two prestigious awards will be awarded on Tuesday, April 20th, 2022 alongside the NZ On Air Outstanding Music Journalism Award, IMNZ Classic Record and the Independent Spirit Award recipients.
