CASSANDRA JENKINS signs to Dead Oceans & announces LP | Check out 'Only One'
Like the night sky itself, the world of My Light, My Destroyer is always expanding. Cassandra Jenkins’ third full-length, out July 13th via her new label, Dead Oceans, cracks open the promise of reaching the edge of the new, with a wider sonic palette than ever before—encompassing guitar-driven indie rock, new age, sophistipop, and jazz. At the center of it all is Jenkins’ curiosity towards the quarks and quasars that make up her universe, as she blends field recordings with poetic lyricism that is at turns allusive, humorous, devastating and confessional—an alchemical gesture that further deepens the richness of My Light, My Destroyer’s 13 songs. Cassandra releases the first single off of the album, ‘Only One,’ with an accompanying video directed by Lydia Fine & Tony Blahd.

BELLE AND SEBASTIAN release new song | Check out ‘What Happened to You, Son?’
Belle and Sebastian have released a brand new song, ‘What Happened to You, Son?’ Stuart Murdoch says on the song: “‘What Happened to You Son’ got pulled rather randomly from the last LP because the LP felt one track too long. Out it came. The song is about my youth, and the funny hole I fell into in my late teens. I was failing at my university course, failing in almost everything I tried around then. I was obsessed with the music of the time, I used to hang so much on the lyrics and message and feeling of certain bands of the 80s era – it probably wasn’t healthy.
FONTAINES D.C. announce new album & reveal first single | Check out 'Starburster'
Fontaines D.C. have announced details of their highly-anticipated fourth album, ROMANCE. Released on 24th August via XL Recordings, ROMANCE is the band’s first album with producer James Ford and is without doubt their most assured, inventive and sonically adventurous record yet. Heralding Fontaines D.C.’s latest creative (r)evolution is the explosive lead single ‘Starburster’. Inspired by a panic attack lead singer Grian Chatten suffered in London’s St Pancras station, the song is punctuated by sharp feral intakes of breath. Its propulsive beat and unrelenting lyrics establish self-destruction as fantasy before a brief moment of sobering clarity when the drums fall away and Chatten moves from spitting, almost-rap into an almost-psalm, his baritone rich and dreamy.
