UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA announce new EP | THE LABEL
Unknown Mortal Orchestra announces a new EP CURSE, which is set for release on Wednesday, June 18th via Jagjaguwar. The announcement comes alongside the release of a new single and music video ‘BOYS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WOLVES.’ The single encompasses so much of what has made Unknown Mortal Orchestra a source of intrigue since the project’s enigmatic debut in 2011 — from spectral, experimental jamming to its metal-indebted earworm of a chorus. The song arrives with a Ruban Nielson-directed music video. CURSE reflects these cursed times we find ourselves in. Taking inspiration from Italian horror films of the 1970s and 1980s, the six songs on the release are as cathartic a listen as the band has ever recorded. Featuring both abrasive riffs reminiscent of Black Sabbath on ‘BOYS WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WOLVES’ as well as the laid back, intricate guitar playing UMO is maybe most famous for on ‘DEATH COMES FROM THE SKY’, the CURSE EP is the perfect soundtrack to your next confrontation with the void.
Andy Shauf’s FOXWARREN share new song 'Deadhead'|Don't stop dancing
Canadian quintet Foxwarren – Andy Shauf, Avery and Darryl Kissick, Dallas Bryson, and Colin Nealis release the new single/video ‘Deadhead,’ the final preview from their new album, 2, out this Friday via ANTI-. Following ‘Yvonne,’ praised by AV Club as “an understated kind of gorgeous,” ‘Deadhead’ sees Foxwarren on a quest for levity. The song seamlessly moves from an MF Doom-like pitch-shifted sample to a line-dance guitar lick to honeyed country-rock harmonies of the titular band all in three minutes. There are darting flutes, mangled electronics, and meticulous snippets of rhythm, all expertly placed to illustrate the song’s emotional tumult. “I won’t stop dancing,” as Shauf sings, is exactly the feeling the song evokes.
New song from DURAND JONES & THE INDICATIONS | Listen to 'Lovers' Holiday'
Durand Jones & The Indications — the trio of Durand Jones, Aaron Frazer, and Blake Rhein — release ‘Lovers’ Holiday,’ the third single/video from their forthcoming album, Flowers out June 27th on Dead Oceans. On the heels of last month’s ‘Flower Moon,’ hailed by Billboard as “one of their most irresistible dancefloor tracks yet,” ‘Lovers’ Holiday’ is a fantasy getaway track fit for cruising and sees the band delighting in the softer side of soul and disco. Of the track, the band says: “We didn’t want to give ourselves any rules with ‘Lover’s Holiday.’ We wanted to make something authentic to our sound, while also giving our fans— the lovers— something to swoon about.”
CAROLINE share 'Coldplay Cover' |Must see video companion piece
London-based eight-piece caroline have shared a new track and video ‘Coldplay cover’ in advance of their new album caroline 2, out this Friday, May 30th via Rough Trade Records. ‘Coldplay cover’ (a joke name for an old version of the song that ended up sticking ) was recorded across two spaces. The two halves of the band perform separate songs while the engineer took a wandering mic between – you can hear the urgent sound of the first recording gives way to the slow and meditative sound of the second, the former still audible in the background.

FOXWARREN release their new album 2 | A must for Andy Shauf fans!
Canadian quintet Foxwarren – Andy Shauf, Avery and Darryl Kissick, Dallas Bryson, and Colin Nealis – have released their new album, 2, out now via ANTI-. Before Shauf’s solo acclaim, he was a member of Foxwarren, which initially consisted of Shauf, the fraternal rhythm section of Avery and Darryl Kissick, and guitarist Bryson. By himself, Shauf has already had a stellar career, his reputation built by the sweet melodies and uniquely imaginative and precise storytelling found on 2016’s The Party through to 2023’s Norm. Foxwarren, especially here, is a crucial part of that ongoing process, but 2 represents something even more significant—five friends now nearing the end of their second decade making music together, pushing against what they’ve learned how to do in order to venture somewhere new. It is the sound of friends who trust each other, cutting themselves loose from their past and their preconceptions to have some fun with a sampler and the very idea of songs.
London based 8 piece CAROLINE release new album | Office favourite!
London-based eight-piece caroline have released their new album caroline 2 which is available now via Rough Trade Records. caroline 2 is a study in juxtaposition: it’s highly intentional but leaves room for the incidental, with multiple sonic worlds colliding, generating something utterly sublime. Described as a ‘digital aanthem in Eden’ by Pitchfork & with collaborators including Caroline Polachek, the 8 piece’s 2nd album weaves accessibility with experimentation, never forgetting a resounding emotional core. “The result is sheer beauty, staggeringly emotional beauty where each song is gloriously cinematic, intoxicatingly unexpected and truly powerful, even in its quietest moments” – Far Out Album of the Week 4.5/5

Landing alongside a stunningly realised video starring Stefano Saa and choreographed by Theophilus O. Bailey, ‘Flicker’ is a clear standout from their new body of work which sees Kojo sing about the temptation to give yourself emotionally to people who don’t deserve it over Ghanaian highlife melodies and a dancefloor-filling bassline.
