FOLK BITCH TRIO announce debut album & share new single | Check out 'Cathode Ray'
Folk Bitch Trio — the Melbourne/Naarm-based band of Gracie Sinclair (she/her), Jeanie Pilkington (she/her) and Heide Peverelle (they/them) — announce their debut album, Now Would Be A Good Time, out July 25th via Jagjaguwar, and release the single/video, ‘Cathode Ray.’ Now Would Be A Good Time tells vivid, visceral stories. Their music sounds familiar, built on a foundation of the music they’ve loved throughout their lives–gnarled Americana, classic rock, piquant, and clear-eyed balladry. Yet the songs are modern and youthful, with the trio singing acutely through dissociative daydreams, galling breakups, sexual fantasies and media overload— all the petty resentments and minor humiliations of being in your early twenties in the 2020s.
ARCA releases new double-sided single 'Puta/Sola' | Listen to these Coachella favourites
Arca returns with a new double-sided single, Puta / Sola. While each track exists in its own distinct sonic world, they are released together to symbolise the complementary force of the liminal, the beauty in androgyny, and integration of both masculine and feminine energies that can harmonise in each person. It is a gesture in response to dualistic thinking-spanning the spectrum between binaries-a quantum entanglement between light and shadow, a call for more sensitive nuance, intersectionality (a concept described by Kimberlé Crenshaw) and futurality. The two singles arrive today alongside their accompanying music videos starring Arca – Puta directed by Stillz and Sola directed by Daniel Sannwald.
LA DISPUTE announce new album & share three songs | Check them out today!
Conceptual band La Dispute have announced their first album in six years No One Was Driving The Car for September 5th via Epitaph. Self produced and heavily inspired by the 2017 psychological thriller First Reformed, No One Was Driving The Car grapples with malaise in the shadow of the looming apocalypse, which has noticeably been worsened by the advancement of tech. The title comes from a quote from a police officer vocalist Jordan Dreyer read in a news article about a lethal self-driving Tesla crash, an absurd event which raises questions about the amount of control we have in our own lives. The band have released the first act of the album consisting of three songs: ‘I Shaved My Head,’ ‘Man with Hands and Ankles Bound’ and ‘Autoficion Detail’.
STANDING ON THE CORNER delivers...'BABY' | Check out this ensemble
STANDING ON THE CORNER returns to give birth to a new single, ‘BABY’ along with accompanying B-Side ‘FRIDAY 2DAY ENEMIES 2MORROW’ and one piece of poetry entitled ‘R U SCARED?’. STANDING ON THE CORNER is an Earth-based Art Ensemble founded in 2016 by Shamel Cee Mystery, aka Gio Escobar, in Brooklyn, New York. The amorphous collective released their eponymous debut album in 2016 followed by the critically acclaimed 2017 mixtape RED BURNS. Inspired by and made for the resilience and upheaval of all people of the African diaspora, Standing On The Corner thrives in fugitivity: they can appear on any given Night as the beat of one drum, as an orchestra of 30, or as a phantom entirely, but always on the run.

HUNNY return with playful indie-pop single | Jump into 'sidewaze'
LA-based indie-pop project HUNNY share the vibrant new single ‘sidewaze’, their first new music since their 2023 album New Planet Heaven and its subsequent live record out in 2024. Driven by an upbeat rhythm, the song calls back to the sunny sounds of their previous work, combining playful lyricism with plucky riffs and bursts of sleazy distortion.
L.A. beat alchemists SUNKING announce new album | Listen to ‘BAM BAM (ft. Takoda)’
‘BAM BAM (ft. Takoda)’ opens I DON’T LIKE MY TELEPHONE – sunking‘s second album for ANTI- Records – like the sun breaking through the clouds. Anchored by a groovy low-end—imagine if a walking bassline suddenly started breakdancing—the song moves with a propulsive but laid-back rhythm that sounds like ’90s drum & bass, floating from the jazz origins of the duo’s past work towards something more electronic and open-ended.
Join LATE NIGHT DRIVE HOME at the 'American Church' | Listen now
Up next from their debut album, as I watch my life online, late night drive home today releases the third single ‘american church.’ At first glance, the new offering is rooted in more tangible addictions than the last two singles. But as organic matter shifts into glitched-out cyberspace, the album’s ongoing throughline of mistaking online connection for something real is masterfully coded in. A metaphor for old habits turning into internet habits, late night drive home calls out the World Wide Web as the modern American church, and congregants can’t help but worship at its flawed altar. So far from as I watch my life online, late night drive home has released ‘terabyte’ and ‘she came for a sweet time.’ The band’s debut album will be released in full on June 27 via Epitaph.

Aotearoa power-pop band VOOM release new album | Get Something Good Is Happening today!
Something Good Is Happening out now via Flying Nun Records. The release of the latest Voom album has taken just short of two decades. Is this pace glacial, or considered? Sloth-like, or discerning? The Tāmaki Makaurau-based foursome will tell you the nineteen years since their much-loved 2006 record, Hello, Are You There?, have been spent jamming and gigging, writing, rewriting and sifting, reflecting on what surely must be some of the strangest times in human history to present fans with their latest offering. Something Good is Happening is the child of strange seasons and tides, strange minds, pedals and fingers. To celebrate, the band have announced a four-date New Zealand tour, taking their new songs (and some beloved classics) on the road for the ‘Something Good Is Happening Tour’. Get your tickets today!

Tune-Yards, the dynamic duo of Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner, have released their new single ‘How Big Is The Rainbow’, the final offering prior to the release of their upcoming album, Better Dreaming, out this Friday 16 May. The track is accompanied by a music video featuring comedian, actress, director Star Amerasu and directed by Dominic Mercurio. Better Dreaming is ferocious in its invocation of self-love, of collective action, of dance floor liberation, ego-death deliverance, and a future we could all thrive in. When diving into the present darkness of the world, Tune-Yards ask themselves how much literal energy and joy can be conjured and pumped through the music. In its life-affirming art-pop of the apocalypse, Better Dreaming comes true.

New orchestral LIDO PIMIENTA album La Belleza out now| Weekend listen
GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY-nominated artist Lido Pimienta shares her orchestral masterpiece La Belleza. There are nine movements in La Belleza, with ‘Ahora’ following the initial overture. The song honours the ceremonies and history of Pimienta’s ancestors that go untold by the mainstream. La Belleza encapsulates why Lido Pimienta is the artist of our moment. Unafraid to explore the depths of her creativity, she produced a haunting, invigorating album that only prompts the question: What will come next? Pimienta knows that this is but the next chapter in a continuous creative process. “I made a gorgeous album inspired in the beauty of being indigenous and black, about the joy of sticking my teeth into a ripe mango, about love unrequited, about ceremony and ancestry, about life and death, about transition of soul and letting go of all that makes us feel a stone has replaced our heart.”

GRUFF RHYS shares remastered bonus edition of American Interior | Snap it up today
In 2012 Gruff Rhys embarked on a solo ‘investigative concert tour’ through the heart of America following the route taken by his distant relative John Evans. Every night he presented songs augmented by a power point presentation that detailed his relative’s unbelievable history, along with any new piece of information that had come his way during the day. What transpired from that ‘investigative concert tour’ was a 2014 album, American Interior, plus a book, film and exhaustive tour of the same name. With the aid of the dusted-off power point presentation, Gruff Rhys and a full band revisits the project in 2025 to perform the songs that formed both the album, and the soundtrack to the film.
