In a playful and innovative celebration of indie music and digital creativity, Ōtautahi Christchurch-based musician Pickle Darling (Lukas Mayo) has teamed up with visual artist Christiane Shortal to release Pickle Darling: The Game, an immersive online experience launching this May. The charming, nostalgia-driven game invites players to join Pickle Darling on a whimsical quest: tracking down their mysteriously lost album. Blending Mayo’s quirky musical sensibilities with Shortal’s distinctive visual artistry, Pickle Darling: The Game offers fans a delightful glimpse into the trials, tribulations, and sheer magic behind an indie album release. The game features exclusive 8-bit renditions of beloved Pickle Darling tracks, including fan favourites ‘Bicycle Weather,’ ‘King Of Joy,’ and ‘Invercargill Angel’. These uniquely reimagined versions were produced specifically for the game and will soon be available on TikTok and Instagram, encouraging fans to soundtrack their own online creations.

U.S. GIRLS announce new album & share epic new song | Settle in for 'Bookends'
Toronto-based producer, film composer, and author Meg Remy announces a new U.S. Girls album, Scratch It, along with the release of an epic 12-minute single ‘Bookends’, out now. Co-written with Edwin de Goeji, ‘Bookends’ is the heart of Scratch It. The sprawling ballad pays tribute to Remy’s late friend and former Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, through the lens of Remy’s own reading of John Carey’s Eyewitness To History, a historical collection of 300+ eyewitness accounts spanning twenty-four centuries. In consuming these first-hand accounts of human history, she began to ponder the thought, “there is not a hierarchy to suffering, and death is the great equaliser.”

Isaiah Hull, the self-proclaimed “stand up tragedian” from Old Trafford, Manchester, today releases ‘A IS FOR AFRICA’. A collaboration with producer Kwes Darko, ‘A IS FOR AFRICA’ is a powerful lyrical and sonic statement that defines the politics Isaiah stands for and stands on, adding to the rich lineage of alphabetic play in hip hop. The track was released – Tuesday 6th May – to mark the 60th anniversary of the death of Una Marson, the Jamaican feminist activist and writer who was the first Black woman to work for the BBC.

Renowned for his live shows, Tyler’s music is built on strong melodic hooks and draws subtle inspiration from the 60s and 70s, blending nostalgia and undeniable songcraft. Indie jazz alchemists Sunking share new video lesson - Bobby’s Rhythm Corner – Episode 1
Sunking are a duo comprised of Bobby Granfelt and keyboardist Antoine Martel. “At its core, this is experimental music,” says Bobby Granfelt. “There’s elements of jazz and indie rock and hip-hip and electronic music, but ultimately, sunking is all about exploring the nooks and crannies between those genres, about throwing out all of the rules and expectations in search of something completely fresh and original.” Check out the video for a drum lesson today!
