Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory announce their self-titled debut album, out February 7th via Jagjaguwar, and release the lead single/video, ‘Afterlife.’ Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory presents an exhilarating new dimension of Van Etten’s sound and songwriting. For the first time, it was written and recorded in total collaboration with her band — Jorge Balbi (drums, machines), Devra Hoff (bass, vocals), and Teeny Lieberson (synth, piano, guitar, vocals) — allowing Van Etten the freedom that comes by letting go. The themes are timeless, classic Sharon, but the sounds are new, wholly realized and sharp as glass.

Having been friends and label mates since their teens, Romy and Sampha make their long-awaited first appearance on record together with the collaborative new single ‘I’m on your team’. The single follows years of friendship and admiration between the pair, whose careers have often mirrored each other. Emerging out of a vibrant London scene in the late 00s, they both found a label home at Young and released debut albums that would go on to win the UK’s revered Mercury Music Prize (Sampha as a solo artist and Romy via her band The xx).

Singer-songwriter and trans woman jasmine.4.t has announced her debut album You Are The Morning,a dedication to queer friendship, is set for release Jan 17th via Saddest Factory Records. Based in Manchester, Jasmine recently became the first UK signee to Phoebe Bridgers label. As well as this, Jasmine is also sharing her new single ‘Elephant’, which was produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus.

Southern-bred multidisciplinary artist Mereba announces her new album The Breeze Grew a Fire due February 14th, 2025. Alongside the album, Mereba also announces her signing to label Secretly Canadian and shares her new single and video ‘Counterfeit,’ which serves as her first release since her 2021 AZEB EP. ‘Counterfeit’ provides a taste of the album’s emotive and fluid nature, introducing themes of authenticity, resilience, and self-love.

Celebrating the vinyl first release, Fat Freddy’s Drop is hosting drop-the-needle events at Real Groovy Records in Auckland, Slow Boat Records, Wellington and Leigh Sawmill, Leigh. These are opportunities for the band to DJ and share music off SLO MO vinyl, and meet and greet local fans.

The National recently announced the 13 December release of Rome, a 21-track digital and two-LP and CD set recorded live on 3 June 2024 at Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. Today, they have shared another four song EP titled NTL RM II, featuring album highlights ‘Smoke Detector’, ‘Fake Empire’, ‘Mr. November’, and ‘Terrible Love’.

Laura Marling releases her eighth studio album, Patterns in Repeat, today via Chrysalis/Partisan Records. The record was recorded almost entirely at Marling’s home studio and co-produced by Dom Monks, with additional assistance from strings supremo Rob Moose, and reflects not only the metaphorical intimacy of the record’s content, but purely from a circumstantial one too, with her daughter often beside Laura for these recording sessions.

Out October 25th, the record has been fully remastered and returns pressed on purple vinyl.

Jim Legxacy teams up with Fred Again for NTS Show - Listen in!
Last week, Jim Legxacy and Fred Again.. teamed up for a joint NTS broadcast, which was recorded at Fred’s flat in London, and featured the pair playing some of their favourite tunes out. As well as playing ‘aggressive’, they performed their collaborative single ‘ten’, as well as an unreleased Jim song ‘baby hairs’. Listen back here and check out some footage.
